[WCMP] Questions on Schema and Schematrons re v1.2 and 1.3

There are many questions regarding WMO Core Metadata Profile (WCMP).  I think some are really worth sharing.

Does the WMO profile have its own XML Schema?

No.  We don't even plan to do that.

The experience in the early WIS implementation tells that circulating multiple versions of XML Schema (XSD) sets makes confusion.  The WCMP has some restrictions that could be tested by amending XSD, but they can also (better) be tested by schematron.  We need schematron to test many requirements that cannot be tested by XSD, so we must distribute schematron anyway.

Do you have official version of Schematron tests?

No, I'm afraid no.  I (TOYODA Eizi, the co-chair of the expert team) am writing a test set, which is expected to be refined into official version.

Are we supposed to consider handling WIS metadata records following versions 1.2 and 1.3 of WCMP?

No.  There are some changes in recommended structures, but they will not matter in practical sense.

It might be too frank, but I would say the changes are basically correction of bad design of version 1.2, so please forget it.
